Mono Lake is weird, wild, and unforgettable. The tufa towers — those otherworldly limestone formations — rise straight out of the water, creating a landscape that looks alien. I hiked along the boardwalks, then watched the lake glow under the Sierra Nevada sunsets. Birdwatching here is insane — thousands of gulls and migratory birds swoop around.
