[Okinawa Prefecture/Motobu Town] An aquarium where you can see whale sharks

The Churaumi Aquarium in Okinawa is renowned for its massive tanks and the whale sharks that inhabit them. While scuba diving and freediving now allow us to encounter these creatures directly in the ocean, not everyone engages in marine activities. Moreover, the aquarium is undeniably well-designed and offers great value for its price, making it a popular tourist destination. Back when I knew little about marine life, the giant tank with the whale sharks left an overwhelming impression, justifying its status as a landmark of Okinawa.
Okinawa boasts an excellent marine environment, so if possible, I recommend heading out to the sea to experience coral reefs and fish up close.
💡 Tickets are slightly cheaper when booked online.
💡 The grounds are larger than expected, so if you're on a bus tour, manage your time wisely when exploring.
