[Nagano Prefecture/Zenkoji Temple]

Zenkoji Temple is known for the proverb "pulled by a cow" (meaning an unexpected encounter leads to good fortune).

Admission is free.

I purchased a "Main Hall Inner Hall Ticket" and toured the tatami-floored floor of the National Treasure Zenkoji Main Hall. Afterward, I experienced the "Okaidan Meguri" ritual.
It's said that by descending the stairs inside the main hall, walking along the right wall in pitch darkness, and traversing the corridor, I can find and touch the key (the Lock of Paradise) to connect with the Zenkoji Buddha.

Zenkoji Kaido is lined with many shops, including a Shinshu specialty soba restaurant and the main store of Yahataya Isogoro, famous for its shichimi togarashi (seven-spice seasoning). I also bought souvenirs.
