— During the Edo Period, Dejima was Japan's only trading post open to the West.

At the time, it was a fan-shaped artificial island floating in the sea. It housed a Dutch trading post and served as a gateway to Western culture, medicine, and scholarship. It has since been restored and is now a tourist spot where you can experience the townscape of the time.
