🏝Out of the island is actually really an island!
“Deshima” was originally a trading stronghold built specifically for the Dutch during the Edo period, similar to the concept of a concession, when Japan locked the country, but Deshima was the only window to conduct international trade! 📦🚢 Basically all the people living on the island are Dutch who do business, live and then trade with the shogunate through Japanese merchants. This is the first place in Japan to come into contact with Western culture, so you can see a lot of European-style architecture!
🏠 Travel through time and space! Edo period x European style architecture
When you enter, it feels like you have traveled directly to hundreds of years ago, the whole area is modeled after the architecture of the Dutch inhabited at the time, you can experience their life in real life! Despite the traditional Japanese Tatami on the ground floor, the other decor is full of European flair and looks wonderful. Inside you can also see a large number of artifacts, imported and exported commodities at that time: medicinal materials, glass products, Western books
Those interested in history and want to learn more about the Nagasaki background should not miss it here! ! !
