Atsuta Shrine (熱田神宮 / Atsuta Shrine)
This Shinto shrine has a history of over 1,900 years. It is believed to have been built during the reign of Emperor Keiko (景行天皇 / Emperor Keiko), the 12th emperor of Japan, who reigned from around 71 to 103 AD. This shrine enshrines the goddess Amaterasu (天照 / Amaterasu), who is believed to be the daughter of the sun.

Mon-Fri > 10:00-18:00,
Sat-Sun (and Japanese holidays) > 09:00-19:00

>Nagoya Subway: Take the subway M - Meijo Line (purple) and get off at M27-Jingu-Nishi Station

>JR Central: Take the Tokaido Main Line (from Nagoya Station) and get off at Atsuta Station

>Meitetsu: Take the Meitetsu Nagoya Main Line (from Meitetsu-Nagoya Station) and get off at Jingumae Station
