Autumn Hokkaido Travel Review

A journey through Hokkaido in autumn is an unforgettable experience, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the grandeur of nature and the changing seasons. The crisp air, expansive landscapes, and the unique culinary delights of Hokkaido made every moment of the trip truly special.

The journey began at "Sapporo Kokusai Ski Resort," located on the outskirts of Sapporo. While bustling with skiers in winter, the area transforms into a serene autumn foliage spot during the fall. Riding the lift up the mountain, I was greeted by a stunning gradient of orange and red trees below. The view from the gondola was like a painting, leaving me breathless. Surrounded by the chilly breeze, I could feel the deepening of Hokkaido's autumn.

Next, I headed to the "Bougakudai" area near Mount Asahidake. Here, I was met with a breathtaking view that showcased the raw power of the earth. Behind me were smoking mountains, and beneath my feet lay rugged volcanic rocks. The contrast with the clear blue sky was stunning, perfectly embodying the phrase "Hokkaido's great outdoors." The coexistence of nature's harshness and beauty left me standing in awe.

One of the most memorable spots of this trip was the "Blue Pond" in Biei. The emerald-blue water, shimmering under the sunlight, and the white, withered trees standing quietly within it created a fantastical scene, as if I had wandered into another world. The colors changed with every angle, showcasing the mysteries of nature.

In the Biei and Furano areas, colorful flower fields stretched as far as the eye could see, with the Tokachi mountain range towering in the distance. The orderly rows of flowers extending along the rolling hills were breathtaking, compelling me to capture the scene in photos. Surrounded by the scent of lavender, I felt time slow down.

At Farm Tomita, I enjoyed their famous "Lavender Curry" and potatoes. Dining while overlooking the vibrant flower fields was an exceptional experience, offering a luxurious moment to savor Hokkaido's rich ingredients and the blessings of nature on a single plate.

To conclude the trip, I indulged in fresh sea urchin sushi, savoring the bounty of Hokkaido's seas. The melt-in-your-mouth sweetness and umami were the epitome of "Hokkaido's flavor." The combination of magnificent nature and gourmet delights is undoubtedly the greatest charm of this region.

Surrounded by vast nature, rejuvenated by beautiful scenery and delicious food, this trip left me longing to visit Hokkaido again in a different season. It was a heartwarming journey that will stay with me forever.
