The Nakijin Castle Ruins are one of the world heritage sites in the northern part of Okinawa Island. They are located in Nakijin Village, Kunigami District, Okinawa Prefecture. They were the residence of the Kitayama royal family during the Ryukyu Kingdom era. This ancient castle is built on a hilly highland. It has a magnificent wall curve and a view overlooking the East China Sea, which makes people feel the unique fusion of Okinawa's history and scenery.
The most special thing is that when you stand on the wall and look at the coastline, you can sometimes really see US military aircraft flying over the sea. Because the airspace near Nakijin Castle is close to the US military training flight route, sometimes you are lucky enough to see F-15, F-35 and other military aircraft whizzing by at low altitude, which forms a sharp contrast with the calm sea view and the ruins of the ancient city. Such a picture shocked many tourists and became an unexpected hunting harvest for photography fans.
In addition to the spectacular stone walls and ruins, the Nakijin Castle Ruins are also the first place in Okinawa to bloom the Kanhi Sakura in spring (late January to mid-February). The cherry blossoms and the ancient city are set off, and the beauty is poetic.
