|Qixia Temple in Late Autumn.⛩️Qixia Temple is located at the foot of Qixia Mountain. It was built in 483 by a monk named Shao, who donated his house to build the temple. It has a history of more than 1,500 years. Qixia Temple is one of the four famous Buddhist temples in China and the birthplace of the Sanlun School of Buddhism in Jiangnan.
⛩️Qixia Temple is built on the mountain, facing east and west, with two mountains on the left and right. The whole ancient temple rises layer by layer along the mountain, majestic and magnificent.
⛩️Entering from the west gate, you will see the Vajra Hall with red walls and green tiles. The plaque of "Qixia Temple" written by the Emperor of the Qing Dynasty is bright and eye-catching among the red leaves.
⛩️Main attractions in Qixia Temple:
✔️Mingjing Lake: There is a statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva in the lake, a hexagonal Caihong Pavilion on the lake, and a Caihong Mingjing Stele on the lakeside. Swans swim in the lake, and the light and shadow on the lake are charming.
✔️Piluzhen Hall: The main hall of Qixia Temple, with a statue of Vairocana Buddha sitting in the hall. The statue is nearly five meters high, covered with gold, solemn and dignified, and is one of the main Buddha statues in the temple.
✔️Relic Pagoda: The largest relic pagoda in China, built in the Southern Tang Dynasty, with eight corners and five eaves, beautifully carved, is a masterpiece of pagoda art.
✔️Qianfo Rock: The only Southern Dynasty grotto in China, known as the Yungang of Jiangnan. There are nearly 300 Buddha niches and more than 500 Buddha statues in Qianfo Rock.
✔️Mingzhengjun Stele: The best-preserved and largest Tang stele in Nanjing. It was erected in the early Tang Dynasty to commemorate the monk Shao, and the inscription was written by Emperor Gaozong of Tang.
📝Tips:
🍁Late autumn is the best time to visit Qixia Temple. The red maple and ginkgo trees are colorful, and the red walls and green tiles of the ancient temple are very beautiful.
🚐There is a scenic bus on the north side of Qixia Temple, which can take you to Qixia Mountain to enjoy the maple leaves.
