Miyama Kayabuki no Sato, located in northern Kyoto, is a well-preserved traditional Japanese rural settlement famous for its thatched kayabuki houses. Nestled between mountains and water, dozens of thatched houses dot the countryside, evoking a time travel back to the Edo period. Preserving ancient architectural techniques and rural charm, the area offers unique scenery in each season: spring brings cherry blossoms to the rooftops, summer brings lush greenery, autumn brings red maple leaves to the thatched roofs, and winter brings a blanket of snow, creating a picture postcard-worthy scene. Visitors can visit traditional houses, sample local cuisine, and purchase handicrafts, experiencing the simplicity and beauty of rural Japan.
