Wenwu Temple at Sun Moon Lake

The Wenwu Temple at Sun Moon Lake features architecture inspired by the Northern Chinese palace style, making it grand and magnificent. The temple is divided into three halls: the second floor of the front hall is Shuiyun Palace, dedicated to the founding ancestor and Wenchang Emperor; the middle hall, Wusheng Hall, enshrines Guan Sheng Emperor and Yue Wumu King; and the rear hall, Dacheng Hall, is dedicated to Confucius, the Supreme Sage and Foremost Teacher.

According to the temple, the main gate is kept open at all times to ensure the safety of the many visitors. The Dacheng Hall houses the only bronze statue of Confucius in Taiwan's Confucius temples.

In the square in front of the temple, there are two giant red lions donated by Chairman Wu Huo-shih of Shin Kong Insurance Company, which are affectionately called 'Wu Huo Lions' by the locals.
