• By car:
Take National Highway No. 3 and exit at the Wufeng System Interchange to connect to National Highway No. 6. Exit at the Ailan Interchange and follow Provincial Highway 14 towards Puli. Then, continue on Nanhuan Road (Township Road 72-1), turn left onto Township Road 72, and then right onto Township Road 71. Drive approximately 14 kilometers to reach Wujie Village, and continue onward to Wujie Dam.
• By public transportation:
Take Nantou Bus Route No. 1 from Puli Main Station and get off at the "Jieshan" stop. Walk approximately 600 meters to reach Wujie Suspension Bridge, and continue onward to Wujie Dam.

📝 Personal Thoughts
Wujie Dam, located in Wujie Village of Ren'ai Township, Nantou County, is one of Taiwan's historical hydraulic engineering projects. Built in 1934, its primary function is to intercept the main stream of the Zhuoshui River and its tributary, the Wanda River. Through a water diversion tunnel, the river water is sent to Sun Moon Lake for storage and regulation, and then directed to power plants for electricity generation. Due to the high sediment load of the Zhuoshui River, Wujie Dam has blocked a significant amount of sand and gravel, causing severe sedimentation in the upstream riverbed.

The dam is a concrete gravity dam, measuring 86.5 meters in length and 57.6 meters in height, equipped with six vertical lift gates. Its maximum flood discharge capacity is 6,000 cubic meters per second. The reservoir formed in front of the dam, known as Wujie Reservoir, has a water storage area of approximately 11 hectares and serves as an important water regulation facility for the region.

Visitors can admire the impressive hydraulic structures and surrounding natural scenery near the dam, experiencing the harmony between engineering and nature. It is recommended to plan a trip including nearby attractions such as Wujie Yixiantian and Momonaer Waterfall to fully explore Nantou's natural beauty and indigenous culture.
