The cable car ride at Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village (九族文化村) is easily one of the most breathtaking experiences in central Taiwan. Stretching between the amusement park and Sun Moon Lake, the ride offers a sweeping view of mountains, forests, and the lake’s shimmering blue waters — especially stunning in the fall season, when the hills are painted in shades of gold and orange.
The gondolas are spacious, smooth, and steady, making the journey relaxing even for those slightly afraid of heights. On a clear day, you can see the entire Sun Moon Lake basin and the distant peaks reflecting in the calm water — a perfect spot for photos.
The ride itself takes about 10–15 minutes one way, connecting seamlessly between the cultural village, theme park area, and the Sun Moon Lake Ropeway Station. It’s not just transportation — it’s a highlight attraction that perfectly combines nature and technology.
For many visitors, the cable ride alone makes the park worth visiting. Watching the lake glimmer below while floating quietly above the forest is an unforgettable moment — truly a must-do experience in Nantou.
Best time: Morning or late afternoon for cooler weather and softer light
Tip: Try to catch the sunset ride for magical golden views over Sun Moon Lake
