Nara Park Day Trip

Departing Osaka at 9:00 AM by car, we drove along the Hanshin Expressway Route 14 Matsubara Route for about an hour before arriving at the Nara Nobori Auto Parking Lot. Weekend parking is 2,200 yen.

We drove through the tunnel and headed straight for Nara Park. At the park entrance, we found a small shop where we could buy deer crackers (10 for 200 yen). We were immediately surrounded by a herd of voracious deer! They bowed for food, but the way they chewed at clothes and handbags was both hilarious and terrifying.

Around 11:00 AM, we strolled to Kasuga Taisha Shrine. Along the way, ancient lanterns intertwined with cedar trees, and the vermilion torii gates shone with a tranquil and majestic presence in the sunlight. After praying, we bought a deer fortune stick and a shrine, then headed back. We stopped by the market to buy some souvenirs before returning to our car and heading to Sakurai City for the Michelin-recommended Miwa Somen at Senjutei. The ambiance is tranquil, the dishes are exquisite, and the noodles are perfectly springy and perfectly matched with the delicious dipping sauce. I'm tempted to order more! 😆 Be aware that the lines can be long, so it's recommended to go early.

Tips: Hide the deer crackers carefully, wear durable shoes, as the approach to the shrine is full of stone steps.
