Mount Wakakusa 🗻 is a mountain located on the eastern side of Nara Park in Nara, Japan. 🇯🇵
It is a beautiful and popular scenic spot for both Japanese and tourists alike, and is one of the most popular natural attractions in Nara. The summit offers panoramic views of Nara. Most of the mountain is covered in grass, making it ideal for strolling or picnicking. From the summit, you can see the entire city of Nara, especially at sunset. The view of Nara and Todaiji Temple is particularly stunning from the top.
The observation deck is divided into two sections:
The first level is an easy climb suitable for all ages, taking approximately 15–20 minutes up the hill.
The second level is a steep climb, taking approximately 40–60 minutes up the hill. The path is easy, with both left and right paths to choose from.
The mountain is open from mid-March to mid-December, though it is closed during the winter to allow for natural restoration. If you're visiting this month, you definitely need to visit this place.
Time: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM. We recommend coming just before sunset to enjoy the stunning sunset views.
The sun is a huge, round orange ball.
Admission fee: Adults: 150 yen / Children: 80 yen
