Naritasan Shinshoji Temple
Address – 1 Narita, Narita City, Chiba Prefecture, Japan
Highlights – Just a 10-minute walk from Narita Station, this massive temple complex feels like stepping into another era. We wandered past incense burners, intricate pagodas, and towering gates, all set within a sprawling park. It’s both peaceful and alive with local worshippers and travelers. The garden paths behind the main halls are especially beautiful in the early morning mist. A great way to start or end a trip if you’re near the airport.
Rating – 8.5/10
Omotesando Street (Narita)
Address – Narita City, from Narita Station to Naritasan Temple
Highlights – This charming street winds downhill toward the temple, lined with old wooden buildings, eel restaurants, and little souvenir shops. We stopped for grilled unagi, fresh mochi, and cups of green tea. It’s a perfect blend of tourist-friendly and authentic — especially if you explore the side alleys. Try to arrive in the late morning to beat the rush and enjoy the scent of soy glaze in the air.
Rating – 8/10
Narita Airport Observation Deck
Address – Terminals 1 & 2, Narita International Airport
Highlights – Surprisingly peaceful for an airport setting. The observation decks offer an open-air view of the runways, with planes from all over the world taking off and landing. It’s a great little ritual before boarding: grab a coffee, lean on the rail, and reflect. At sunset, the light across the tarmac is unexpectedly poetic.
Rating – 7.5/10
