Naruto whirlpool

Exit JR Naruto Station and take the bus to #Naruto Park on the left. The fare is ¥390 (approximately 20 minutes). After getting off the bus, follow the signs to #Whirlpath (the trail is over 400 meters long and involves walking up and down ramps and stairs to and from the bus stop. Please wear comfortable sneakers!) It can be very hot in the summer, so remember to stay hydrated and wear sunscreen!

The Naruto Strait, located between Magosaki in Naruto City and Awaji Island, creates whirlpools due to the ebb and flow of the tide. The whirlpools are at their largest during the spring and autumn high tides, reaching speeds of up to 20 kilometers per hour and reaching a maximum diameter of 20 meters. The roaring sound is like a hundred thunderclaps, and the interplay of large and small whirlpools is a truly spectacular sight. High and low tides occur twice a day, and whirlpools form in the Naruto Strait during both high and low tides. It is said that the best time to see the whirlpools is about an hour and a half before and after high tide and low tide. (Although I didn't get to see the whirlpool due to time constraints when I arrived, the overall ocean view was still stunning!)

The Naruto Strait is considered one of the "Three Great Whirlpools of the World," along with the Strait of Messina between the Italian and Sicilian peninsulas and the Seymour Strait between the west coast of North America and the east coast of Vancouver Island. They're definitely worth a visit to see for yourself!
