The first Japanese-style residence in Tamsui to be designated as a historical site

The Tada Eikichi Residence on Tamsui Street was the private home of Tada Eikichi, who served as the mayor of Tamsui during the Japanese colonial period. Built in 1937, it is said that Tada Eikichi applied for a private water supply, making it the first household in Tamsui and all of Taiwan to have running water.

On April 21, 2005, it was officially designated as a county-level historical site, becoming the first Japanese-style residence in Tamsui to receive such recognition.

The Tada Eikichi Residence is located near the Little White House and Fort San Domingo, making it convenient to visit all three sites together. Visitors can also enjoy a Japanese yukata experience here. You can take photos in the yukata at the residence and even wear it to the Little White House and Fort San Domingo for more photos, as long as you return it on time.

A little embarrassing to admit, but before coming here, I kept mistakenly calling Tada Eikichi "Yoshida Eisaku." Yoshida Eisaku is actually a singer, my apologies 🤣
