Jiufen means 九分 in Korean.
It is a narrow and high-slope village, so in the past, only nine farming families lived in this village, and it was called Jiufen (九戶). Since it was a mountain village, they had to go far to buy groceries, and they bought the necessary items and divided them equally! It is said that the name Jiufen (九份) became established as the place name because it was divided into nine parts!
