When you come to Nikko, you must visit Toshogu Shrine, cross the beautiful Shinto Bridge, and stroll to the Toshogu Shrine area. The area of two shrines and one temple includes Toshogu Shrine, Rinnoji Temple, and Futarasan Shrine, which is also a famous power spot.
Tokugawa Ieyasu's will was to be buried at Kunozan, and a branch shrine was set up at Nikko Toshogu Shrine.
The remains were taken to Kunozan and the funeral was held at Zojoji Temple. After one week of mourning, a small hall was built on Nikkosan and the emperor requested that the funeral be held.

Legend has it that the feng shui layout is like this: Toshogu Shrine passes through Mount Fuji in the middle and faces Mount Kuno, forming a Fuji (immortality) Road (homonym); while Nikko Yangmeimon faces the North Star and Edo, forming a dragon vein.
After visiting Tokyo, Fuji, and Nikko, I'll find time to visit Mt. Kunou. The connection of historical stories also makes the journey more interesting to recall. Walking back to the station, it was getting dark, and the mountains in the distance presented a beautiful scenery like ink-splashed mountains and rivers due to the snowfall.
