We spotted a line on our way to the hotel!

Since its founding in 1895,
their specialty is handmade yokan using a secret recipe!!

They take their time to make the bean paste using carefully selected domestic azuki beans,
so you can truly enjoy the flavor of the azuki beans.

The yokan, wrapped in bamboo bark, comes in four flavors, including Honren and Chestnut.

The refreshingly sweet Mizu Yokan is also popular.
The popular Mizu Yokan this time of year was sold out.

I gave up and headed home, but
the next morning, I went for a walk around Toshogu Shrine.
I waited in line a little before 8:00 AM and got the Mizu Yokan I was looking for!
I also bought some Mizu Yokan with chestnuts.

It contains no additives, only sugar, red beans, and agar,
and it was refreshing and incredibly delicious!
I can see why it's so popular.
