[Oku-Nikko] 🍁A scenic spot to visit during the autumn foliage season

🍁Autumn Foliage in Nikko and Oku-Nikko🍂

A beautiful tourist destination where history and nature intertwine.
One of Nikko's charms is its long autumn foliage season. Nikko's terrain, with its large elevation changes, allows you to enjoy the changing colors from late September to early November. (Photo taken last fall)

📍Location
JR/Tobu Nikko Station or Tobu Nikko Station
If you're not driving, we recommend taking a bus from the station to the tourist spot.

[Recommended Spots]
⚫︎Nikko Toshogu Shrine
A World Heritage Site. The leaves begin to change color in late October and reach their peak in early November. The sight of the vibrant autumn leaves adorning the grounds against the magnificent shrine building is truly breathtaking.
*Please note that weekends and holidays during the autumn foliage season are expected to be quite busy. Therefore, we recommend visiting early in the morning or on a weekday if possible.

⚫︎Irohazaka
A mountain road heading from downtown Nikko toward Lake Chuzenji and Oku-Nikko. There's the "First Irohazaka" for downhill cyclists and the "Second Irohazaka" for uphill cyclists, with a combined total of 48 continuous curves. If you stop at the observation deck along the way, you can enjoy a spectacular view of Nikko's autumn foliage and the ropeway below.

⚫︎Lake Chuzenji
This lake, located at an altitude of approximately 1,269 meters, is at its best from mid-October to early November for its autumn foliage. There are plenty of places to stop by around Lake Chuzenji, including the British Embassy Villa Memorial Park.

*We recommend the mountain vegetable udon noodles, which will warm you up.

⚫︎Kegon Falls
This waterfall is considered one of Japan's three most famous waterfalls, along with Fukuroda Falls and Nachi Falls. Its spectacular 97-meter drop from the cliff to the basin is truly breathtaking.

⚠️It gets quite chilly in the mornings and evenings.
Don't forget to dress warmly! 😊
