Here are 3 places to visit in Noboribetsu for a day trip.
Hokkaido's most famous hot spring town, surrounded by
hot springs. We're following the footsteps of the movie "Fan Day" at Jigokudani Hell Valley. The smell of sulfur is palpable as soon as you arrive.
The good thing is that admission is free. This is the source of the
hot springs in Noboribetsu. The eruption of Mount Kuttara created a fissure with a diameter of approximately
450 meters, causing massive amounts of underground gas to rise up.
The water is constantly bubbling, which is the origin of the term "hell
where giants live." Anyone who wants to follow in the footsteps of Denchai and Nui, the fan of Fan Day, can take photos on this wooden walkway.
We drove a bit further and found this really cool spot: River Oyunuma.
Natural Footbath, a hot spring footbath in the middle of a public forest.
After a long walk Soak in this stream to relieve your aches and pains.
This stream flows from Mount Oyunuma. It's a milky white stream with a temperature of
40-50 degrees Celsius. The day I went, the water was just the right amount of warm.
There are bamboo benches for us to sit and relax on. I love it! It's such an unseen place!✨
Finally, we drove to Oyunuma, a large hot spring pond.
Made with sulfur, the water at the bottom reaches a temperature of
130 degrees Celsius. It's another beautiful photo spot. The water is a slight blue color.
There's steam rising constantly, with Mt. Hiyori as the backdrop. This is also the source of the water that flows to the footbath
we just sat in. There's also an easy trail leading you
up to the top for a beautiful view. If you're looking for a place to
visit not far from Sapporo, I highly recommend this one.
