Taking a stroll at the historic city of Georgetown

#localescapes

The historic city of Georgetown in Penang won its UNESCO Heritage Site status in the Year 2008, July 7th, which makes a remarkable event for Malaysian especially Penangnite. Housing more than 4000 heritage buildings aged more than 100 years old an more, this lovely historic city has managed to preserve most of the heritage buildings. Some of the fantastic museums such as Blue Mansion and Peranakan mansion, which is built in the 19th century, still lies there and with the great efforts of local councils and NGOs, the city has managed to be inscribed under the UNESCO Heritage Site status. It feels comfortable and exciting strolling between streets and shops, looking at the facade of the buildings, and dine in several shops (some is still operating even after 100 years!!). As a local it is a pride to share the local masterpiece to the rest of the world.
