When Osaka people go to visit a shrine for the first time of the year, they first think of Sumiyoshi Taisha, just like Meiji Shrine in Tokyo ⛩
※Sumiyoshi Taisha is ranked #1 in the New Year's visit crowd rankings in Osaka.
It is overflowing with 2.6 million people, nearly five times as many as Osaka Tenmangu Shrine, which is #2, during the New Year holidays, but if you go at a different time, you can enjoy sightseeing at a more relaxed pace.
[Benefits]
The benefits include business prosperity, matchmaking, children, safety in the home, and love fulfillment, making it Osaka's most powerful power spot 👘🌸
[Sights to see]
*The red "Curved Bridge"
A large arched bridge that curves round as its name suggests.
This curved bridge is the symbol of Sumiyoshi Taisha, and was depicted in the ukiyo-e "Naniwa Hyakkei" in the Edo period 🌷➰
It is said that just crossing it will purify you!
*Rabbits at the Chozuya
Many temples and shrines have dragon-shaped spouts, but at Sumiyoshi Taisha, it's a rabbit🐰
It's because the shrine was established on the Rabbit Day of the Rabbit Month in the Year of the Rabbit, and rabbits are considered to be messengers of the gods.
There are rabbit motifs all over the temple grounds
It's fun to look for them like hidden Mickeys! I found a lot of rabbits this time too✨
[Access]
Nankai Railway "Sumiyoshi Taisha Station" and "Sumiyoshi Higashi Station" and Hankai Line "Sumiyoshi Torii-mae Station" and "Sumiyoshi Station". All are within a 5-minute walk from the station.
