I visited the Midosuji Illumination, which is considered a highlight of traveling in Osaka. It’s so famous that I had only seen it in photos before, but seeing it in person was much more impressive than I expected—the scale was much larger, and the atmosphere was romantic.
Midosuji is a major avenue in Osaka, about 4 km long, with all the trees from Umeda to Namba decorated with LED lights. The colors change by section, from soft champagne gold and pastel tones to blue and purple, so the atmosphere keeps shifting as you walk, which was the most charming part.
Maybe because it wasn’t the Christmas season, even though it was a weekend, it didn’t feel crowded or stuffy. Especially the section from Shinsaibashi to Dotonbori was bustling with tourists, but it actually felt lively and enjoyable.
