┃Osaka Expo 2025┃ Pavilion Portugal Republic

Portugal's theme was "Ocean: Dialogue of Blue." Japan and Portugal have had a relationship for around 500 years, dating back to the introduction of firearms to the country in 1543. Learn about the history of our connections across the sea, and see videos that highlight the challenges the ocean poses for the future.

☝No reservation required, so we lined up on the day to enter. The approximately 10,000 ropes used in the pavilion itself are made from recycled fishing nets and other materials, and are meant to represent ocean waves. It was a fantastical yet striking warning from the sea.
