The sunshine in Paris has been glorious lately! Yesterday, I visited the Musée de Montmartre, a charming spot that holds the entire history of Montmartre within its walls.
This old house is located on Rue Cortot, just a few minutes' walk from the iconic Sacré-Cœur Basilica. It's truly a place steeped in artistic legacy; Impressionist master Auguste Renoir lived and created here, with famous works like The Swing and Montmartre Garden having been born within its very rooms.
The museum also served as home to Suzanne Valadon, the first woman formally admitted into the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, and her son, Maurice Utrillo. You can actually visit the rooms where they lived, offering a personal glimpse into their lives and creative spaces.
Gardens & Vineyard: A Serene Retreat 🍇🌳
The gardens are a particular highlight, faithfully restored to their appearance in Renoir's paintings. Complete with a lovely cafe, they're perfect for a little break to sit and soak up the sun. It's a truly picturesque and peaceful spot that allows you to connect with the artistic spirit of Montmartre.
