Sam Phan Bok, Ubon Ratchathani Province

Sam Phan Bok is a series of rapids or cliffs beneath the Mekong River in Pho Sai District, Ubon Ratchathani Province.

Formed by eddies, these rapids have formed over 3,000 basins. These rapids emerge during the dry season, reminiscent of mountains in the middle of the Mekong River, giving the locals the nickname "the Mekong Grand Canyon." This phenomenon occurs from approximately October to May, after which floodwaters flood the rapids, submerging them beneath the river.
