The annual Las Noches de las Luminarias event (often extended into the fall) is the ultimate Halloween-adjacent experience here. Instead of plastic ghosts, the garden uses thousands of paper bag lanterns (luminarias) that line the trails, casting a soft, flickering, golden light. This low light exaggerates the shadows of the giant saguaros and ocotillos, making the desert landscape feel beautifully vast and subtly ominous. The gentle mariachi music and acoustic performers tucked into the shadowy alcoves add to the magical, reflective atmosphere. It’s less "spooky" and more hauntingly beautiful—a sophisticated, non-traditional way to celebrate the season that truly respects the desert's natural majesty.
