The sight of massive, dying agaves and century plants is an unexpectedly powerful seasonal display. These plants die spectacularly, sending up a single, huge stalk before collapsing. Seeing these towering, skeletal flower spikes that are often over 20 feet tall, alongside the drying remains of the giant rosettes, is a beautiful reminder of the life cycle. It's nature's own dramatic and quiet 'death and renewal' spectacle, perfectly suited to the autumnal mood. This isn't morbid; it’s magnificent. It gives the garden a raw, rugged beauty that stands in sharp contrast to manicured East Coast gardens.
