Wat Yai Chaiyamongkhon is one of the most famous temples in Ayutthaya, Thailand, located in Ayutthaya Historical Park. Built in the 14th century, the temple is famous for its giant reclining Buddha.
The Reclining Buddha (พระนอนวัดใหญ่ชัยมงคล) is the treasure of Wat Yai Chawengkhong. It is 28 meters long and 5 meters wide and is the largest reclining Buddha in Thailand. The Buddha statue has a kind and dignified face and lies peacefully, which is awe-inspiring.
In addition to the reclining Buddha, there are many exquisite Buddha statues and buildings in Yachamengkong Temple. The main tower of the temple (พระปรางค์ใหญ่วัดใหญ่ชัยมงคล) is about 50 meters high and is the largest Ceylonese-style pagoda in Thailand. There are also many exquisite murals and reliefs in the temple, depicting Buddhist stories and historical figures.
Wat Yaichaimongkol is an important holy place for Thai Buddhism and a must-see when visiting Ayutthaya Historical Park.
