The Ayutthaya Museum opened in 1957 and was originally used to display antiques and artworks discovered in the underground palace of Wat Ratchaburana. Now these cultural relics are all on display in the "Boutique Hall". Because the cultural relics all come from royal temples, it is also called the "Gold Museum" and is filled with gold.

The museum’s most important antiques include a golden dagger measuring 115 cm long and 5.5 cm wide, from the Ayutthaya period, which was unearthed from the underground chamber of Wat Ratchaburana. The golden Phra Tao Thatak is 2.7 cm in diameter and 18.5 cm in height. It dates from the Ayutthaya period and was unearthed from the underground palace of Wat Ratchaburana. In addition, it is presented in the style of a museum located in a monument, that is, displaying antiques. Artworks found in Ayutthaya and from the excavation and restoration of ancient sites, 3 architectural pottery as well as commodities and currencies are displayed, antique artworks from the Dvaravati, Srivijaya, Lopburi, Chiang Saen, Sukhothai, U Thong, Ayutthaya, Rattanakosin periods found in Thailand are displayed for comparative study, etc.

🕰️Opening hours: 9:00am - 4:30pm Open for visits Tuesday to Sunday. It is recommended to visit during the hottest time of the day. This is one of the few indoor attractions in the city where you can enjoy the air conditioning and avoid the scorching sun.
