Step Back in Time at Wat Phra Si Sanphet

One of the must-visit landmarks in Ayutthaya is Wat Phra Si Sanphet, the former royal temple of the ancient Ayutthaya Kingdom. Built within the royal palace grounds, it served as a place for royal ceremonies rather than a monastery. The temple is best known for its three iconic bell-shaped stupas, which were constructed to house the ashes of three Ayutthaya kings: King Trailokkanat, King Ramathibodi II, and King Borommatrailokanat. Standing before these majestic ruins, you can almost feel the grandeur and spiritual importance of old Siam.

What impressed me the most was the peaceful atmosphere. Despite being a popular spot, it still exudes a serene charm. The warm sunlight reflecting off the weathered bricks created a magical aura, and every corner is picture-perfect. Whether you’re a history buff or a photography lover, this place won’t disappoint.

Getting here is easy. If you’re driving, there’s parking available near the entrance. Alternatively, take a train from Bangkok to Ayutthaya and continue by tuk-tuk or bike. Wat Phra Si Sanphet is located within the Ayutthaya Historical Park and is just a short walk from other famous sites like Wat Mahathat. A perfect day trip filled with history, beauty, and unforgettable moments!
