Big Bhudda - Gloom is not always doom.

The Big Bhudda in Phuket is a landmark worth visiting in almost any weather. The atmosphere there is majestic, relaxing and zen-like befitting the nature of the landmark. Your experience, however, might differ depending on when you visit - there could be a lot tourists and the site is still under construction.

Surrounding the statue you will find a meditation area, numerous other statues, and several viewpoints from which to view Phuket or take pictures. It is important to have your shoulders and knees covered when you visit, though if you come unprepared attire to cover up can be purchased.

Drinks and snacks are also sold nearby. If you are looking for something more filling there is a restaurant further down the hill that might be good. I didn’t eat there so I can’t recommend it.

The Wat Chalong temple is another colorful landmark just a short ride away from the Big Bhudda. Why not check it out?:) It was nice. Happy traveling!
