The "Southernmost Point of Taiwan" is actually the southernmost point of the main island of Taiwan. A "Southernmost Point of Taiwan Image Sign" has been set up for tourists to stop and take photos. The coordinates are located at 120 degrees 50 minutes 0 seconds east longitude and 21 degrees 53 minutes 34 seconds north latitude, between Eluanbi Park and Longkeng Ecological Reserve.
To get here, look for the entrance to the "Southernmost Point Trail" next to Eluanbi Lighthouse Park. There are trees on both sides of the trail, providing shade from time to time. The entire trail is paved with concrete and is flat and easy to walk on. After walking for about 10 minutes, the end of the trail is the southernmost landmark and observation deck of Taiwan, where you can overlook the Bashi Channel, the southernmost point of Taiwan.
The landmark is a cement marker monument with a pointed top shaped like a bamboo shoot pointing toward the sky. The observation deck is surrounded by large reefs on the coastline, which is the Longkeng Ecological Reserve. An appointment is required to enter the reserve.
