Carmo Church - The Golden Temple

Of the two churches facing each other across a central wall in Porto, the Carmo Church on the right ripples with golden waves.

The moment the door opens, light floods in. The ceiling is a fusion of white and gold, and the wooden sculptures seem alive, as if breathing.

Angels and saints entwine in the pulpit, and a statue of the Virgin Mary on the blue velvet altar embraces light at its center.

Time here pulses with brilliance, all the more dazzling in contrast to the silence just across the wall.

A place where worship, art, faith, and beauty intertwine. Within that golden light, I gaze upon the divine world, touched by human hands.

On the thin wall separating the two churches, blue tiles depict the story of God.

Prophets and monks ascended heavenward in procession atop the azurejo, the color of the sea.

While the golden faith protected the interior, the blue faith remained with the winds of this city.
