Exploring the Intangible Cultural Heritage Wellness Journey in Qichun: A Cultural Retreat for Body and Soul
Three companions embarked on a wellness journey to explore Qichun's intangible cultural heritage. Traveling by high-speed rail and taxis, they wandered through this small town steeped in millennia of traditional Chinese medicine wisdom, enjoying a unique five-day, four-night experience.
On the first evening, they took a high-speed train from Shanghai Hongqiao Station and arrived at Qichun South Station under the night sky, then checked into the Li Shizhen Holiday Hotel to recharge for the adventure. The next morning, they strolled to the Li Shizhen Memorial Hall, following a clockwise route: breathing in the herbal fragrances of the Medicinal Herb Garden at dawn, uncovering the legendary tales of the "Medical Sage" in the Biography Hall, capturing Hanfu-clad moments in the Herbal Classics Gallery, and marveling at precious manuscripts that reveal the profound heritage of traditional Chinese medicine. After lunch, they headed to Chihlong Lake, admiring the scenic views from Dongbi Pavilion Hotel, wandering through Chihlong Lake National Wetland Park, and experiencing tea art, pottery, and sachet-making at Qiai Town—immersing themselves in the charm of intangible cultural heritage. The evening concluded with authentic local cuisine at a countryside restaurant.
On the third day, they visited a Qichun moxibustion center to experience the intangible cultural heritage of "Grand Moxibustion." The warmth of mugwort and ginger dispelled fatigue, offering a revitalizing energy boost. In the afternoon, they ventured to Wuyun Mountain Terraces, encountering the breathtaking ancient terraces shrouded in misty rain. The fourth day began with an invigorating herbal scalp treatment, followed by a visit to Hubei Daming Ancient Ai Technology Co., Ltd. to purchase specialty products before checking into Qichun Shangfeng Hotel. On the fifth day, they returned to Shanghai by high-speed train, carrying cherished memories and newfound wellness insights.
The total transportation cost for the trip was 728 yuan (train), while accommodation totaled 271.4 yuan—an excellent value. The cultural immersion at Li Shizhen Memorial Hall, the lakeside elegance of Dongbi Pavilion Hotel, the hands-on intangible heritage crafts at Qiai Town, the rejuvenating effects of Grand Moxibustion, and the wild beauty of Wuyun Mountain Terraces all wove together into an immersive wellness journey. Here, history merges with nature, tradition meets modernity, every step is infused with wellness wisdom, and every corner radiates cultural charm—a truly nourishing and enlightening experience for both body and soul.
