We accidentally climbed up a mountain and loved it!

Our wonderful colleagues had given us very detailed instructions on how to get the cable car up the mountain in Laoshan scenic area. We arrived by Didi at 7am to the Laoshan scenic tourist service area. We were staying in central Qingdao, and the Didi took about 45 minutes. We then got tickets for the bus which were 130rmb each. The bus journey was about 15 minutes to the first stop, which is where we got off. We soon realised it was not the correct stop as there was no cable car, so we just decided to walk up the mountain. We later realised the cable car is the second stop on the bus. It was a steady(ish) climb that took about an hour. We did this in peak summer season, but it felt like we had the path to ourselves at the time we went. We are not avid hikers, but the stone path was easy to follow, and we loved seeing the waterfalls and palace on the way. It was beautiful! Once we had seen the cave, we then headed to the cable car and bought a ticket to come down. We were back at the tourist centre by around 10:30am, we were glad we had gotten there early as it was getting very busy when we left. We would definitely recommend this area, it was beautiful seeing the coast and mountains.
