Wulin: Whose old dream is this again?

A couple of days ago, while "surfing the internet" (intentionally using this phrase), I saw Bingbing and Zhizhi both visited the ancient village of Wulin. They dressed up as little Nyonya, and they looked absolutely stunning. Suddenly, I realized I haven't been to Wulin for many years and wondered what it looks like now.

The last time I went was probably many years ago. At that time, the village had just completed the early phase of renovation; many houses were still under repair or not yet restored, so the area to explore was limited, and I just took a quick walk around. I thought even if I didn’t get to meet any fairies, it would be nice to smell the lingering fairy aura and take a stroll to see the sights.

Regarding Minnan overseas Chinese history, or those stories full of love, hate, entanglements, and farewells, they could probably fill several books. But I haven’t really delved into them. As for culture, architecture, and art, I’m just an ordinary person without much research interest. I just wanted to take advantage of this not-so-hot day to see the scenery, take some photos of the buildings, and idly pass the time.

I heard a tourist quietly muttering, "I think this place is much nicer to stroll around than West Street." I totally agree. West Street, to me, is just a road I used to walk to and from school, but now it’s no longer as pleasant to walk on. Of course, I’m talking about the main road of West Street itself.

There are really too many people in Wulin now: tourists with children, young ladies dressed in Nyonya costumes checking in, and a group of photographers on a shoot. One photographer asked me about my camera model; he asked seriously, and I answered a bit perfunctorily. Mainly because I’m an INFJ and hadn’t yet switched to "normal social mode."

If I were to say what’s the most beautiful thing in Wulin, it would definitely be its architecture. The styles here can be roughly divided into four types: Western style, Nanyang style, Minnan style, and mixed style — all beautiful and each with its own flavor. Of course, there are also those fairies and fairy goddesses taking photos here. So naturally, my photos also include their figures.

I wandered alone for an entire afternoon and took photos all afternoon. I wonder who I’ll be with next time I come?
