Here is a one-day travel guide for Quanzhou:
Morning
- 8:30–10:00: After arriving in Quanzhou, head to Kaiyuan Temple. As the largest Buddhist temple in Fujian Province, its Mahavira Hall and East and West Pagodas are very spectacular. You can feel the peaceful and harmonious atmosphere here and learn about Buddhist culture.
- 10:00–11:00: After leaving Kaiyuan Temple, visit West Street, one of the best-preserved ancient streets in Quanzhou. There are ancient buildings and traditional shops along the street, where you can taste delicious food such as meat dumplings and noodle paste and feel the charm of the ancient city.
Noon
- 11:00–13:00: Have lunch at a restaurant on West Street or near Kaiyuan Temple. We recommend ginger duck, stone flower jelly, and other specialties to enjoy the taste of Quanzhou.
Afternoon
- 13:00–14:00: Visit Qingjing Mosque, one of the oldest existing Islamic buildings in China, with a unique architectural style. You can learn about Islamic culture and history here.
- 14:00–15:00: Head to Guanyue Temple, which is a symbol of loyalty and righteousness and has a strong incense atmosphere. You can watch the blessing ceremony and feel the religious atmosphere.
- 15:00–16:30: Visit Tianhou Temple, a temple dedicated to Mazu, which reflects marine culture. You can explore the cultural connotation of Mazu in depth.
Evening
- 16:30–18:00: Stroll along Zhongshan Street in Quanzhou, which has unique arcade buildings and a blend of Nanyang style. You can walk from one end of the street to the other, admire the architecture, and feel the prosperity of the ancient city in the past. You can also shop or taste snacks.
- 18:00–19:30: Have dinner at a nearby restaurant and enjoy seafood or other specialties.
- 19:30–20:30: Head to Weiyuan Tower, which is magnificent. You can overlook the whole ancient city and enjoy the beautiful sunset of the ancient city.
