Hiking Through Giant Palms in Valle de Cocora

#holidayitinerary Valle de Cocora is straight out of a fantasy movie. Giant wax palms stretch into the clouds and the whole valley feels super open and green. It’s peaceful but wild at the same time. You can just stare at those skinny palms forever, they’re the tallest in the world and honestly look unreal.

The main hike is a loop that takes a few hours. Some parts are muddy and a bit steep, but totally doable with decent shoes. There are swing bridges, cow pastures, hummingbirds, and some magical fog if you catch the valley in the early morning. It’s really quiet and calming, perfect for wandering.

You’ll start in Salento, a chill town with cute shops and colorful balconies. From there, hop in a jeep (called a Willy) to reach the trailhead. Bring water, layers, and maybe a snack. Even if you’re not super into hiking, just walking to the valley viewpoint is worth it. Total dream spot for nature lovers.
