Valle de Cocora – “Where Palm Trees Touch the Clouds”

#holidayitinerary

📌 Location: Quindío, Colombia

The Valle de Cocora is like a Jurassic Park dream—rolling green hills dotted with wax palms that tower up to 60 meters tall, the tallest palm trees in the world. I hiked the full loop trail through misty cloud forest, across rickety bridges, and up muddy slopes with hummingbirds fluttering around. At the top, the valley opened up in a dramatic reveal—fields of tall palms swaying under a cloudy sky. The small town of Salento nearby made the perfect base, full of colorful buildings and great coffee. It’s one of the most iconic and unique hikes in South America.
