Tokyo ๐ ๐๐ธ Roppongi Mori Arts Center Gallery / MUCA Exhibition: ICONS of Urban Art ~From Banksy to KAWS~
After touring Oita and Kyoto, the MUCA exhibition has finally arrived in Tokyo.
This exhibition allows you to see the collection of MUCA, a museum in Munich, Germany, specializing in urban art and contemporary art, renowned throughout Europe. โ
By the way, urban art refers to visual art that developed in modern urban spaces and generally refers to the depiction of art in public spaces. ๐จ
MUCA has a collection of over 1,200 works by some of the most famous artists of the 20th and 21st centuries, and this exhibition features works by 10 artists.
Of the 70 works, over 60 will be shown in Japan for the first time...!
This is an incredibly valuable exhibition where you can see career-defining works by internationally renowned artists, including the well-known KAWS and BANKSY, as well as Invader, JR, Vills, Shepard Fairey, Barry McGee, Swoon, Os Gemeos, and Richard Hambleton...! The highlight, of course, is Banksy's ๐ฅบ, the symbol of Dismaland, Ariel, as well as a girl with a balloon and a man throwing a bouquet ๐๐! I'm not particularly knowledgeable about art, so
there were many works by artists I'd never heard of before, and it was fascinating to look at them. โบ๏ธโก
I especially couldn't take my eyes off VHILS's "Destroy and Create" works.
The exhibition runs from Friday, March 15th to Sunday, June 2nd, so be sure to check it out! ๐ ... From the official website: Same-day tickets for adults are ยฅ2,400 on weekdays, ยฅ2,600 on weekends and holidays.
From the official website: Sunday-Thursday: 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM (last entry at 6:30 PM). Friday, Saturday, Holidays, Days before Holidays, Golden Week (April 27th - May 6th): 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM (last entry at 7:30 PM).
