Review of Saga Ramen with Warm Broth

During my trip to Saga, I visited a small and humble ramen shop. Despite its modest appearance, the flavors were as rich and deep as any fancy restaurant. As soon as I opened the door, the rich aroma of broth greeted me warmly, and I took a seat at the long counter to place my order.

I chose the Tonkotsu Ramen. True to the Kyushu region, Saga's ramen featured a rich broth made by simmering pork bones for hours. The first spoonful filled my mouth with a creamy and savory taste. It wasn’t greasy but had a clean, deep umami flavor that kept me coming back for more. The thin, firm noodles paired perfectly with the broth, offering a delightful chew, and the chashu topping was so tender it melted in my mouth.

I couldn’t skip the gyoza on the side. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, they were the perfect complement to the ramen. Paired with a refreshing glass of beer, it made for a simple yet perfect meal.

This bowl of ramen, though unpretentious, was filled with care and became another highlight of my Saga trip. The warm atmosphere and authentic local flavors, unique to small towns in Japan, will remain a cherished memory for a long time.
