The Shanghai Alila perfectly balances two essential qualities of a staycation hotel: a quiet rhythm and central urban convenience. 🍃
The design is exquisite and elegant, in the quintessential Shanghai style. With many local guests, the hotel exudes a friendly, luxurious atmosphere. The automatic entrance door design is striking! Two doors carve out a dark red, separate space, evoking a mysterious solemnity reminiscent of the Continental Hotel in the movie "John Wick." ✨ The staff's attentive service is unobtrusive, creating a cozy atmosphere. Some people complain that the path from the lobby to the elevators is a bit complicated, but I actually like the dark colors and winding corridors, creating a tranquil space secluded from the mundane world.
The view from the roof bar is spectacular, and the sparkling wine served during the sunset ceremony is delicious. 🥂 The outdoor courtyard design is ingenious, creating a hidden paradise that's hard to imagine from the outside. The service and facilities seem to surpass the Wuzhen Alila, and perhaps because of the limited number of rooms, the staff are more attentive than the Beijing Park Hyatt - they offer complimentary check-out extensions, provide steam eye masks and sleep sprays, and securely tie down bags and suitcases when storing luggage - all of these are very thoughtful. However, the computer would often freeze upon check-in, and the quality of the bathroom amenities and hair dryer, as well as the limited selection in the minibar, could all be improved.
The breakfast was excellent! There was a wide variety of bakery items, and Shanghai specialties like hot pot rolls, xiaolongbao, and shrimp noodles were delicious. Even the green vegetable porridge had a homemade feel to it. 😋 I'd love to return to Shanghai soon and enjoy a relaxing stay here.
