Samarkand has been the capital of the Timurid Empire since the 14th century. Let's explore the blue ruins scattered throughout the city over two days.
【Day 1】
From Samarkand Airport or the train station, take a taxi to the city center (approximately 20 minutes).
Visit Registan Square, the heart of the city.
Explore the medrese surrounding the square, and don't miss the golden ceiling of the Tilla-Kari Madrasah 💎.
Walk to the Bibi-Khanym Mosque and the adjacent bazaar.
Pick up souvenirs like Samarkand bread 🫓 and dried fruits.
Take a taxi to the Afrasiab Museum, where the Silk Road-era murals are a must-see.
Immerse yourself in the blue world at the Shah-i-Zinda Mausoleum complex.
Enjoy the illuminated light show at Registan Square.
【Day 2】
Start your day early to enjoy Registan Square when it's less crowded.
Take a taxi or bus for a 40-minute ride to Urgut Bazaar, where you can find a wide variety of Suzani (embroidered large cloths) at affordable prices.
Return to the city and visit the Gur-e-Amir Mausoleum.
Uzbekistan 🇺🇿 is known for its low cost of living.
Savor local dishes like shashlik (grilled skewers), plov (pilaf), and lagman (tomato-based noodles).
