It's definitely shorter than Thira's Old Port.
You can walk there and back.
In fact, to the Old Port,
it's better to take the round-trip gondola ride.

3:00 PM Wait for the bus from Oia to Thira (about 30 minutes)
It was super crowded during the summer vacation season,
but there were more buses than the schedule suggested.
