In late August, the super typhoon "Jianyu" passed through Sanya, causing severe damage to the city's infrastructure. After the disaster, more than 20,000 rescue personnel from both inside and outside the island quickly assembled, working day and night to fight alongside the people of Sanya to win this tough battle against the typhoon disaster.
To express the highest respect and heartfelt thanks to the rescue heroes, the Sanya Municipal Bureau of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television, and Sports guided the Sanya Tourism Federation, Hotel Association, Scenic Area Association, and Homestay Association to jointly initiate a gratitude campaign. They organized over 100 tourism enterprises in Sanya to offer gratitude discounts covering accommodation, entertainment, dining, and other aspects, paying tribute to the heroes with practical actions and helping the tourism market recover.
Typhoon "Jianyu" is one of the strongest typhoons to hit Sanya this year, and its impact on the tourism industry was particularly significant. In response to the disaster, the Sanya municipal government acted swiftly, issuing the "Eight Measures to Support the Recovery and Development of Tourism," providing policy-level relief and support for enterprises to resume work and production. Meanwhile, Trip.com Group also took active measures, offering million-level traffic support to nearly 2,800 hotels in Sanya and organizing the "Sweet Coconut Fleet" to provide free shuttle services for travelers, implementing multiple measures to enhance the tourism experience and accelerate industry recovery.
With joint efforts from various parties, Sanya's tourism enterprises actively responded by launching a series of sincere discount activities. In the hotel sector, more than 90 hotels including Yintai Sunshine, Mandarin Oriental, and Poly Rosewood offered 10% to 30% off Trip.com calendar room rates, along with additional perks such as welcome fruit, late check-out, and dining discounts. In the scenic area sector, 13 attractions including Wuzhizhou Island, Sanya Romance Park, Daxiaodongtian, and Red Detachment of Women offered free or discounted tickets to rescue personnel, along with multiple discounts on entertainment, transportation, and dining. In the homestay sector, 15 homestays including Liangmei Homestay, Nomad Tiger, and Damao Ocean Ecological Village not only provided free room vouchers but also launched 50% off stays and special experience packages.
It is worth mentioning that most discounts will remain valid until December 31, 2025, with some extended to 2026, reflecting the long-term care of Sanya's tourism industry for rescue personnel. Rescue personnel can enjoy the discounts by presenting a government thank-you letter, disaster relief certificate, or a letter of introduction from their unit along with relevant identification. Residents and tourists can check real-time participating enterprises and specific policy details through the "Sanya Worry-Free Travel" platform.
From the "working together in the same boat" during the typhoon rescue to the "gratitude feedback" in post-disaster reconstruction, Sanya has demonstrated the city's warmth with a comprehensive discount campaign, embodying the belief that "heroes deserve to be treated with kindness." With the implementation of these discount measures, not only do rescue personnel feel deeply appreciated, but the tourism market's popularity has also rebounded. In the future, Sanya will continue to optimize tourism services, enhance visitor experiences, accelerate the construction of an international tourism consumption center, and welcome more domestic and international tourists.
