Hokkaido University Museum was built in 1929 and opened as a museum in 1999.
The museum is as large as the Beijing Museum of Natural History, with a comprehensive collection of exhibits. The museum is divided into different departments and specialties, with research results from each department and super cute animal specimens. The museum houses 4 million specimens and materials collected, preserved, and studied since the Sapporo Agricultural School era over 130 years ago, including more than 10,000 precious type specimens that have become the basis for the discovery and identification of new species.
The museum combines humanistic care with academic cultivation, and is full of fun. The interactive experience projects are very interesting, making it a benchmark for university museums. It is recommended to visit here.
The museum is located in Hokkaido University and is closed on Mondays.
Opening hours: 10:00–17:00
The museum has 3 floors and an elevator.
